blend architect is a techno producer out of japan in the lineage of dj nobu or ken ishii. uncloud - his very first release - is composed by 2 movements with 2 variations each. cloud 1.1 sets the initial atmosphere for 1.2 to jump in and offer a more tense body that will play deeply with our intellect and physicality. an apparent minimal universe but full of subtle details. cloud 2.1 opens the b side with a futuristic high voltage cut. finally, cloud 2.2 brings the time back to present tense and the dance continues!

the broken glass is a work conceived and produced between austria and spain and represents the eleventh reference of the catalogue of stoerung label. in this collaboration field recordings and synthesis processed by asferico create cyclical and hypnotic structures, which mia zabelka furnishes with her violin and voice. the lp version consists of two versions of the piece, the first more minimalist and conceptual and the second more rhythmical and synthesizer based. through a display of distorted and isolated sounds, we are driven in the first version into an deep listening, as if sounds where placed under a microscope or we were contemplating them through a telescope. this approach lets us perceive the bare physicality of sounds in a way which enables us to grasp subtleties and aspects of sound which we are not used to. the second version continues where the first version left us, but in this piece, we are eventually flooded by hypnotic loops, white noise and synthesis and the experience has a different flavor. now what we have acquired through the first version, the enhancement of our listening and appreciation of subtleties of sounds, is inserted into a rhythmical structure which acts as a strong current, pulling us inside an ocean full of astonishing sounds.

here it is! some brand-new wax for your listening pleasure! the days are becoming longer, summer is just around the corner, and our latest release appears to perfectly embody the spirit of something new, something fresh, and something exciting. indeed, we’ve combined all this into a single 12” featuring the likes of satl & electrosoul system, and invadhertz. the release is all about good mood and chilled vibes, and virtually anything you can tag with the liquid label (if you really need to). but categories aside, our new twelve incher comes with a superb collab between satl & electrosoul system on one side, and with a solid track by the upcoming collective of invadhertz on the flipside. the former, entitled “satless”, is a warm, vocal-infused gentle roller that seems to be best enjoyed in the sunny days to come, while the latter, named “lily”, offers a nice combination of a bit rougher percussion section and booming bassline enriched with even more of vocal inserts. all in all, the whole single is a tasty treat for all those into the lighter side of drum & bass.

this time starts with label mate dakpa (rooted/sukhumvit) who brings a really rolling house track with great ambiances. a2 comes with in haus wax label boss tijn with a minimal chords house with great senses. b side arrives with our partner rickzor who builded a great old school house track full of groove. the release ends with label boss bolumar who brings another old school house feeling track.

right after we finished putting together our long sold out distant waves compilation back in 2014 we started working on volume ii.

we follow up our debut release by stl with a dancefloor oriented ep by scotsman cain. for those new to cain, a regular on highlife records (a sub-label of huntleys & palmers), you have been missing out. he’s known for fusing his love of traditional music from around the world with infectiously rhythmic drum pattern writing, stand-out melodies and futuristic bass work. and this release is no different. seeing as we are a record label based in the middle east, cain jumped on the opportunity to dig for arabic influenced drums and rhythms to build the ep around. the results are dope! and just in time for the summer season.

for anyone with their pulse on cutting edge music, neel is synonymous with quality. he s one half of the critically acclaimed duo, voices from the lake (with donato dozzy), and here he teams up with his studio partner, filippo scorcucchi. the pair present a project called lf58 (named after neel s mastering/recording studio in rome) for our latest instalment in the late night innominate series. three untitled ambient tracks all created with modular synthesizers, full of emotion and technical brilliance. also worth noting, side a is over 16 minutes of pure bliss!

medical records in collaboration with our friends at crispy nuggets blog are happy to reissue a very obscure australian gem from the 1980s. ironing music were a three piece band from brisbane. they originally formed in 1984 as a result of their collective love for new order, human league and eventually jean michel jarre and cabaret voltaire. comprised of bass and electic guitar, yamaha dx-7, melodica and an 808, they recorded a 12- single as their sole outpt in 1985 in a limited run of 250 copies (obviously excruciatingly rare now!). it was recorded in their bedroom studio with at teac 4 track. the video clip for the -hit- shopping bag women was played on several national and local television music shows. they also recorded demos in hopes of landing a lp deal which unfortunately didn t attract any takers at the time. they actually only played 3 gigs and were forced to disband after one of their members fell ill in 1986. the lp presented here included the original 4 track single as well as hand picked demos which nicely congeal to form a well rounded lp documenting the band s brief existence. they can best be described as lo-fi synth pop with an emphasis on excellent pop songs and interesting synth/instrument arrangements. the first track shopping bag women is infectiously catchy and just screams to be worn out in the club. fans of early to mid 80s synth pop and new romantic will fall in love. the tracks have been lovingly remastered by martin bowes at the cage, london. features original reproduction of the front cover painting. presented in a limited edition on 180gram vinyl.

dystopian dreams are often used by our minds to try out new, scary scenarios. they are the perfect playgrounds because they combine elements of our real world with speculative elements that do not exist in real life. viers gets to work on his own visions of dystopia, with this menacing 12” tripped with hidden spooks and monster pummel lines.

to follow the lucy remixes of the descent chapter i, we assembled a collection of our favourite artists to provide their interpretations of tracks from chapter ii. across the remixes, 4 totally unique creators have re built pact infernal parts into unexpected shapes, each one showing a new side to their talent, developed through re-molding the pact infernal sonic ingredients.

nyako is our 7th vinyl release here at otc and it s a big one. south african producer behr created nyako together with makadem during a santuri safari session at sondeka festival in kenya. the e.p is 4 cuts that build in brilliance from the original which has extremely broad appeal. indian producer daisho delivers a straight ahead 4 x 4 house groover, south-london production duo modified man swing their analogue machines into action for a heady synth adventure, which is just a bit broken. berlin-based duo of dirk leyers and dj nomad (hans reuschl) are the ideal pairing to merge technology and tradition together as africaine808 bring up the rear with a balearic sensation to round off the ep. makadem is a talented musician and vibrant performing artist from kenya. he s a figurehead of the benga scene in nairobi. his stage presence and powerful vocal delivery, had him likened to the legendary fela kuti. makadem innovates by bringing traditional african instrumentation, story telling and contemporary production methods together.

the jungle brothers’ 1988 debut, straight out the jungle, was important for many reasons. it was sloppy and goofy but had moments of real focus and social consciousness. it was a true “kitchen sink” record, that caught a rap fanbase enraptured by eric b. & rakim, public enemy and boogie down productions a bit off-guard. also of note, beyond the excellence of the album itself, the jungle brothers were the fulcrum for what would become the native tongues movement – they came first, de la soul and a tribe called quest followed, under their guidance.

never one to rest, our pal the revenge has been busy as always. his latest lp as 6th borough project find your rhythm recently dropped on roar groove, he created a beautifully delicate remix of auntie flos waiting for a (woman), had a change of scenery relocating from scotland to denmark and his collab ep with dirt crew, flush with nachtbraker remixes was one of our biggest records of 2016! amongst the action he’s taken the time and a more in yer face approach to write us his latest ep, a four-tracker of proper club tracks. every night brims with raucous disco energy. the french filter house reminiscent gems strings shimmer and funk horns hit heavy, a jam destined to wear holes in shoes. grit attends to the easy-going disco grooves we love so much from the revenge, plenty of shake and soul its overflowing with good-mood energy. b-side opener never learn gives us a glimpse of the darker end of the revenge’s spectrum. subby toms rumble, tweaked out synths bleep and slide and delayed key stabs shift the party into smoke hazed, underground rave mode. the closing track krokodille brings that bass n electro gritty booming sound! the acidic lead wraps around sturdy drums. straight forward with plenty of kick, what an ending to a high quality ep!

our second artist ep comes by way of austrian producer, markus quittner, who joins forces with his hoover the house crew for one deliciously deep record.

this record is the result of a series of memorable studio sessions with my friends. especially made for cahoots records, nightside contains four sophisticated underground house tracks. each one is produced with much love and attention.-

bss records returns with the second in a series of va compilations entitled percussive parameters . after successfully launching the series last year, showcasing both emerging and established artists and topping juno s vinyl chart, this one s set to cause a stir. first up is troy gunner, an artist with a wealth of experience and a diverse arsenal of club focused records to his name. ‘pleading shows troy s deeper, more melodic side with atmospheric pads and vocals layered around an intelligent, driven percussive array. as the track progresses, a hypnotic and compelling synth is introduced that draws the listener further in, cementing troy s intuitive abilities in the studio. next up are head honchos silas & snare, who deliver a certified club weapon. memories starts unassuming, mesmerizing and innocuous, before launching the listener into a rolling, dubbed out cut destined to open and close sets across the world s sound systems. on the flip, we bring two exciting and emerging uk producers, agrippa and yak, both delivering their debut 12- offerings. kicking things off is ziplash , a drum workout that demonstrates agrippa s ability to manipulate percussion and sub to the highest caliber, with thunderous claps and kicks weaved over intricate beats and samples. finally, and as the name suggests, showdown is a menacing cut of club weight destined for low ceilings and late nights, with a relentless sub and inimitable groove throughout! as ever, we d like to say a massive thank you to everyone supporting our music, ideas and artists.

bottom forty s fifth release and second vinyl press showcases two french producers living and banging the drums in berlin, a long time bottom forty favorite, la fraicheur, teamed up with veteran producer and leonizer record label ownerleonard de leonard. la fraicheur, a producer of emotional and story-telling minimal techno, is seen here paired with leonard de leonard to turn up the heat on our first club-banger release track, -afraid of the groove-. la fraicheur and leonard de leonard beat the hell out of their analog elektron to lay out a relentless whipping melody that demands a twirling dance floor while a classic minimal bass line, rhythm and -she s uh-fraid of the groove- sample keep this track dark, dirty and underground. in a beautiful contrast to the heart-pounding a-side, flip to the b-side for -une place au soleil-. literally translated as -a place in the sun-, the saying is more about conveying the emotion of your hard work is putting you in a good place in life . -une place au soleil- is a gorgeous deep house track filled with teasingly melodic stabs and subtle hardware sounds that come and go, crashing on the record like powerful but soothing waves on the hot beach sands. while -afraid of the groove- may twist a peak-hour dance floor into a frenzy, -une place au soleil- will entrance them in the after hours, reminding dancers why electronic music is so beautiful and why dance floors can carry so much emotional release.

neon finger strikes back! release number four starring midnight runners is here! a full time ultra delicate piece of disco-funk and boogie where the indonesian band, headlined by munir, will take our minds away. a mandatory release for all weird funk lovers.

a new talent is added to our roster, this time the argentinian alderaan, after several releases in labels such as animal farm, mindtrip, planet rhythm and our very own aine. he offers four slices of modern techno, heavy percussive based but whit a lot of intelligent elements inside.
first cut is ancient particles, multiple drum layers, heavy reverberation and obsessive sequences as sound palette.
parallax follows in the same style but adding more drone action and bell like lines in a clever arrangement.
oscar mulero remixes retina getting rid of the textures and focusing in rhythm and repetition in a minimalistic remake.
retina is a cosmic exercise, with galactic resonant bleeps, atmospheres and ambiental components in a dreamy structure.
timeless techno for the mind and for the body, soul as a weapon.

with releases from lerosa, andy mac and piezo already under our belts, idle hands strides towards the summer with a transmission from a kindred spirit across the pond. area, sometimes known as m50, has been flying the flag for forward thinking electronic music in chicago for a long time. his radio shows on wnur have a distinctive quality one step to the side of the music his hometown is best known for, while his label kimochi sound has released incredible music from the likes of benjamin brunn, strategy and many more besides. as a producer area has been equally prolific since first emerging in 2007. from ethereal sound and steadfast to untilmyheartstops and sequencias, his various approaches to rhythm and texture are all bound together by a meditative quality that feels like a perfect fit for idle. on this single, both sides of the 12- continue the theme of dusty, dusky 4/4 area is most widely known for, locking on to a house groove while sporting the abstract atmosphere of techno. -rlgl- is an understated, emotional heater that uses looped up fragments as a counterpoint to the more lilting strings and static that bed the track. notice takes a more overtly melancholic approach with its lingering, heavily processed keys that drift in between a tough set of drums. theres a punch to the track that will translate beautifully to a big system, even as the melodics spell out a more intimate listening experience.

shiro is the samurai music offshoot created specifically for emerging artists first solo release on vinyl.
torn is a new face to the samurai camp and our first signing from russia. a st petersburg native, torn has been developing over recent years into one of the most interesting producers in the half step community with his tracks featuring heavily in the sets of many of the scenes most prominent dj’s including homemade weapons, loxy, clarity & presha.
the grethen ep is a gateway to the torn sound. ‘stagnation’ is the most traditional drum and bass of the ep with it’s bouncing, grunting lurch. ’grethen’ goes down low and deep, while ‘self reflection’ is the tune bound to populate many dj sets with it’s tribal percussion. ‘insomnia’ ups the intensity with frantic, restless energy to close the ep. more torn music to come on samurai later in 2017.

before coming back in september for a new year of new releases, lddlm gives you their current mood and state of affairs in the form of a sampler 12inch grieve not, but try again. luke abbot s mix of easters champagne has been in our drawers since the very early days of the label but still shines as new. no dust gathered. easters synth pop is turned into a slow, yet nor chugging, futuristic r n b number. this is our conception of sunrise music. tom of england grasps the metallic fury of mutado pintado s classic lazy boy and chops it in a grinder. decomposition / re-composition with of high industrial standard. a scene from a future, a from-a-lost-tape edit by our underbuy manfredas has been one of our biggest club tracks for the last year. check his recent boiler room ending to know how warped yet strangely hit-like it is. finally, cowboy rhythmbox decided of their own accord to do a club edit of golden bugs physical disco. we liked it, we release it. simple and effective. jugular attack

number 6 of the series introduces two further tracks of the sound adventure that superpitcher is taking us on this year. side a features protest song. if music is a way of transporting us to other places, protest song takes us to a desolate, scary and loveless environment, a burnt-down, burnt-out place where the flesh of its former inhabitants is smouldering, void of goodwill and kindness in a cloud of toxic and greedy smoke. it’s all kafka and orwell and suffering - the most twisted and eerie track so far in the golden ravedays saga. what is undeniably clear is an acute sense of regret and loss - a warning that it could have been avoided, had we only listened to our hearts and protested. in the same vein on side b we hear powerful resistance. produced after the paris attacks of 2015 superpitcher outdid himself with this strong message of resistance. where protest song paints a picture of under-worldly doom, resistance’s techno beat and insistent refrain sweeps us to the surface of the muck of hatred and intolerance we’ve politically been dumped in. a voice that seems like a trapped animal is calling out to us. what is it trying to say? is it crying out for help? is that animal all of us? resistance represents hope and encouragement and could be the perfect marching track to any demonstration against negative forces. much needed in this age of bigotry where it seems like time has leaped backwards to a darker side of history. as for the dancefloor – resistance is irresistible!

ariwo ist ein in london beheimatetes, kubanisch-iranisches quartett, das sich darauf konzentriert, die bislang unerforschten zusammenhänge zwischen elektronischer musik, afrokubanischen rhythmen und iranischem mystizismus zum klingen zu bringen. sein selbstbetiteltes debüt erscheint als auf 500 exemplare limitierte doppel-lp mit vier sehr langen und hypnotischen tracks. die platte ist die zweite veröffentlichung des labels manana, das vom !k7-kollektiv in der nachfolge des atemberaubenden kubanischen manana-festivals 2016 gegründet wurde. in den worten der band ist es deren ziel -to connect our native musical traditions to electronic music in a way, that pushes beyond traditional cuban an iranian identity-. denn auf diese weise entstünde ein sound, der keiner spezifischen kultur mehr zugeordnet werden könne. dazu passt es, dass der begriff -ariwo- in der westafrikanischen yoruba-kultur, die im zuge des transatlantischen sklavenhandels auch nach kuba gelangte und dort zu einem einflussreichen faktor wurde, schlicht geräusch bedeutet.

the b-side starts with title track letter of resignation. is this a clue from sleeparchive? the future will tell. what we do know is that it continues where the a-side stopped. again heavy hitting drums followed by a frisk sequence. he continues this formula on the 2nd track called solitary drinker. and above all we give you a small bonus with 2 locked groove presents: sleep cycle 17 & 18.
